Paris, France had been a childhood dream destination of mine, and in September 2022 I finally made that dream come true. It was everything I imagined and more. I even had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at the Ritz and near the Louvre, ending our sunset photoshoot on the Pont Alexandre III. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That weekend felt surreal, filled with breathtaking architecture, romantic streets, and unforgettable moments behind the camera. Every meal felt intentional and indulgent, from cozy cafés to elegant dinners, and it all came together to create what I can only describe as a dream weekend.

Although I grew up in Japan, I never had the chance to truly explore Tokyo in this way. For most of my childhood, Tokyo was simply a transit point. It was a place we flew in and out of without ever leaving the airport. This past December, after being away for 18 years, I finally fulfilled that long-held dream and spent nearly two weeks discovering the city. From vibrant neighborhoods to quiet side streets, Tokyo felt both familiar and entirely new. Seeing Tokyo Tower in person felt especially meaningful, reminding me of standing beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris just three years earlier. Two iconic cities connected through moments of awe and reflection. The food alone was worth the journey. Every meal felt like its own adventure, and being able to experience the city at my own pace made it deeply meaningful.

Kyoto, Japan was another long-awaited dream destination, and visiting it allowed me to fully immerse myself in the rich history and cultural heart of Japan. Walking through ancient temples, traditional streets, and peaceful gardens felt grounding and awe-inspiring. At the same time, wandering through Nishiki Market and the bustling shopping streets of Kawaramachi brought me right back into modern life, filled with local snacks, artisan shops, and vibrant energy. That contrast was what made Kyoto so special. One moment I was surrounded by centuries of history, and the next I was enjoying contemporary flavors and city life. The food, as always, was incredible, and the entire experience felt like a beautiful balance between past and present.
